Vol.68 Graphical Visual Impact issue
In this issue, we introduce that some of the most fresh and in-tune creators in the mid-twenties to mid-thirties mainly focusing on graphic design, graphic art, and street art. Though their method of presentation may differ, we focused on the striking visuals they produce.
Featured creators include: Craig & Karl, who had worked on the in-store installation along with vivid hues and story-centric designs for the Start Something New project by Apple; Hattie Stewart, who is known for her vibrant, cheeky style; and Kate Moross, who has become a jack in a wide range of media including film work since we interviewed her back in 2008. Each page has the work of these creators who pack a visual punch, so we hope that these features enable you to enjoy the entire issue. Besides creators’ interview, we have also spoken with the clients who have hired them, asking why they chose to work with these creators and why they were initially attracted to them. Presenting designs from the dual perspectives of the creators and clients is a new experiment for us.

グラフィック・デザインやグラフィック・アート、ストリート・アートを中心に、今クリエイティヴ界で最も旬で、世界的に活躍する20代半ばから30代半ばまでの新進気鋭クリエイターを紹介する。その表現手法は多種多様だが、彼らが生み出す鮮烈なヴィジュアル表現に焦点を当てる。
今号では、AppleのStart Something Newプロジェクトにて、極彩色を用いてストーリー性の高いヴィジュアルでApple Store内のインスタレーションを展開したCraig & Karlをはじめ、ユニークないたずら描きスタイルと遊び心溢れるイラストが特徴的なHattie Stewart、そして、前回の取材から７年の時を経て、今では映像界でもそのクリエイティヴィティを発揮しているKate Morossに再インタビューを敢行するなど、どこを切り取ってもヴィジュアル・インパクトを有する彼らの作品の数々を堪能することができる1冊となっている。また、今回はクリエイターのインタビューだけではなく、彼らが手がけたコミッション・ワークについて、クライアントから起用した理由や惹かれた点についてのコメントをもらい、同時に掲載している。クリエイター／クライアントの両視点から作品を捉えることができるという新たな試みを行なった。
表紙には、先述したCraig & Karlのシグネチャー作品とも言えるポートレート・ワークに、カラフルなペイントでモザイクを施したウィットに富んだアートワークを採用。
